TRUCK SHORTAGE
RAILAGE OF MANUREB FARMERS’ UNION DISCUSSION Suggestions that representations should be made to the Railways Department regarding the shortage of rolling stock for the conveyance of manures were discussed at the monthly meeting of the Waikato Executive of the Fanners' Union to-day when a letter on the subject was received I from the Te Awamutu branch of tha j union. The letter also stated that a i suggesting should be made to the department that another cruising engine , should he put on the line between I j Frankton and Te Kuiti to collect the | empty trucks more quickly. The president of the executive, Mr G. T. J Craw ley. presided. ! Speaking to the motion Mr W. Neill. 'nf Te Awamutu. stated that In a number of cases the delivery of goods 'and manures was about a month be- ; hind schedule, owing to the shortage jof railway trucks. If a cruising engine i were run between Frankton and Te Kuiti to collect empty trucks, practically a full train of trucks would problabiy be collected on most evenings. If i these were available the work of the | farmers would be greatly facilitated. The speaker's remarks were endorsed by Mr C. J. Flay, who also stated 1 that recently the delivery of his manure was several weeks behind time, owinz to the shortaze of trucks. It was decided to make representations to the Railway Department on th* lines suggested by the Te Awamutu branch.
