PROTEST LODGED
RUGBY GAME ALLOCATION WAIKATO EXEOUTIVE ORITIOIBED MATAMATA UNION DISSATISFIED A protest at the committee’s decision In allotting the representative match with Manawatu to the Waipa sub-union, was received in a letter from the Matamata sub-union, at last evening’s meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union Management Committee. The Matamata Union pointed out that Walpa had had the King GountryWalkato fixture last year and added that it was of the opinion that the Waikato Union was not giving Matamata the consideration to which it was entitled. The Union placed on record an emphatic protest of the Waikato Rugby Union’s apparent disregard of the # existence of the Matamata Subunion. The chairman, Mr W. Fraser, pointed out that a representative fixture had been played at Matamata In 1934, Whereas Waipa’s last match was in 1932. A letter was sent to the Matamata Union pointing out this fact and adding that the match with King Country last year was played at Hamilton, not Te Awamutu, as had been stated by Matamata. An application for a representative match was received from the Bay of Plenty Union, which offered £ls towards expenses. It was suggested that a match might be arranged In Rotorua on September 4. Mr T. Thompson, secretary, reported that he had advised the Ray of Plenty Union that the Waikato team would be engaged on September 4. No action was taken in regard to Bay of Plenty’s offer. A communication was reoelved from the Cambridge Sub-union suggesting that no re-graded senior players be allowed to take part In Junior representative fixtures under the Judlsdiotlon of the Waikato Union. A motion embodying the suggestion was carried, “ senior ” players being defined as those- who had been senior subunion or Waikato representative players. In reply to a request from the Waikato seotlon of the New Zealand Publio Service Association for a ground on September 1, It was decided to write to the association offering the use of No 2 ground at Rugby Park. A rerpiest from the Morrlnsville Sub-union to play Paeroa, at Paeroa, on September 11, was granted, BCHOOL FOOTBALL ROLLER MILLS SHIELD (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, Friday The primary schools’ Rugby tournament for the Northern Roller Mills Shield was concluded to-day In fine weather at Rugby Park, the trophy being won by Auckland North, who defeated Auckland East by 8 p-oints to 3. Auckland North had the meritorious performance of going right through the tournament winning every game.
