PUKEMIRO NOTES
BENEFIT FUNCTION. The Pukemiro Miners’ Union arranged a benefit picture evening and dance recently in aid of Mr James Manderson, who recently had his leg amputated as the result of an accident. There was n very large attendance. Mr A. Robinson, secretary of the (Minors’ Union, thanked all those who Were responsible for the success of the function. The Elite Orchostra (Huntly) playfed excellent muslo, and Messrs G. Robinson and W. Dunn were M's.C. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Mesdames Robinson. Llddle, Drinnln. McLaughlin. C. 6lmpson. W. Rest and J. Dunn. The proceeds amounted to about £35. Winners at the whist tables were Mrs Pears and Mr 1). Robinson. Competitions were won by Mrs W. Jefferson and Miss L. WHIST DRIVE. The weekly whist drive was held In the Miners’ Hall, the proceeds being Jo aid of school funds. The wiune-S were Mrs Pears and Mr J. Braun, for the biggest aggregate over a period Mrs Robinson and Mr Robinson, onsolation Mrs Shearer and Mr Afackie. EVENING FOR CHURCH FUNDS. Mrs lU Chappel’s residence recently, xvlien she held an evening, the proceeds being for the Pukemiro Catholic ■Church funds. \ very Jolly time was spent.
