PUKEMIRO NOTES

BENEFIT FUNCTION. The Pukemiro Miners’ Union arranged a benefit picture evening and dance recently in aid of Mr James Manderson, who recently had his leg amputated as the result of an accident. There was n very large attendance. Mr A. Robinson, secretary of the (Minors’ Union, thanked all those who Were responsible for the success of the function. The Elite Orchostra (Huntly) playfed excellent muslo, and Messrs G. Robinson and W. Dunn were M's.C. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Mesdames Robinson. Llddle, Drinnln. McLaughlin. C. 6lmpson. W. Rest and J. Dunn. The proceeds amounted to about £35. Winners at the whist tables were Mrs Pears and Mr 1). Robinson. Competitions were won by Mrs W. Jefferson and Miss L.
