OARD EVENING. There was a large attendance at the weekly card ec-rnng organised by tha Matangi hail social corrmittae, in aid oj the hail fundi. Progress vj f\e hundred was enjoyed. the wirners being Messrs. 1 Robinson and T. Hogg. A competition vas won by M»* H. Ellis. Supper was A*rved by t*e lsdies of i.h3 committee Missionary Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Waikato East branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union was held at the home of Mrs French recently, Mrs Thompson presiding over a large attendance. After devotional exercises, two very Interesting 1 missionary letters were read by Mrs French, one from the Maori Mission Field, and the other lolling of the work of the missionaries in the foreign llelds. Discussion on ways and means of helping I lie different missionary activities followed, everyone present being Willing to assist. A delicious afternoon tea was served at the conclusion of the meeting. Among those present were:— Mesdamcs Thompson, French, Maryohurch, Davidson, Burnett, J. Shaw, Jamieson, McDowell, 'Campbell, T Shaw, McClennan, Middlemiss, Benge, Robinson, Bendall.
