NORTH ISLAND TITLEB VISITOR PRAISES GROUND (Times Representative). MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. *‘l have taken part In contests in all parts of the Dominion, but I have never seen a better equipped or more nicely laid-out ground than that belonging to the Morrinsville Gun Club,” said Mr M. Pratt ( Otorohanga), at the North Island championship shooting tournament at Morrinsville yesterday. Mr Pratt won the North Island Sparrow Championship after tying with Mr R. Symons, of Taihape. There were few clubs In New Zealand which could boast such ideal surroundings as those owned by the Morrinsville Club, said Mr Pratt, and there were fewer still which had such up-to-date equipment- Everything needed for the comfort of the shooters was on the grounds and the location was fit to be the venue of any of the Dominion's leading tournaments. The grounds were well situated and had a beautiful background and the traps was splendid, throwing the clays out perfectly. The North Island championship tournament is the first to be held on the new ground. FURTHER RESULTS Keen competition was the order In the North Island Sparrow Championship and few birds were missed. M. Pratt (Otorohanga), missed his third bird but It. Symons (Taihape) went as far as the tenth before bis bin! got away. Each shooter killed 16 bjrds, Symons using the second barrel twice and Pratt three times. In the sliootoff of six birds Symons missed one bird and Pratt went on to shoot the possible, thus winning the shipFurther results: — 12-Bird Clay Sweepstake.—M. Pratt (Otorohanga), 19 yards, R. Farrow (W'aitoa) 12 yards, E. P. Wells (Cambridge), 12 yards, J. Malcolm (lluntly) 18 yards and R. Symons (Taihape), 16 yards, broke the possible and divided.
