ELECTORAL CHANGES.

PROPOSALS DISCUSSED OPPOSITION AT TE AROHA (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Tuesday A public meeting last evening, convened by the Chamber of Commerce to discuss the inclusion in the Thames Electorate of Te Aroha, hitherto in the Taurnnga Electorate, was presided over by Mr H. L. Thornton. Mr R. Coulter, M.P. for Waikato, addressed the meeting, and pointed out the alterations to boundaries. The old Waikato Electorate had been cut in half and affected Waihou, Waitoa and Morrinsville, lie said. Portion of Hauraki was cut out of Thames and re Aroha substituted. Tauranga had lost Te Aroha but gained Matamata to retain the balance of population. II,• considered Te Aroha should be associated with the county lying to the west of the town. After general discussion relative to which electorate in which Te \ro i ■should preferably be included, the following resolutions were carried:— That this meeting protests against Te Aroha being Included in the i Electorate and prefers being included in Waikato or Hauraki Plains; that *f a new electorate he formed call'd Thames Valley that Te Aroha he associated with the county adjoining it; that if the commission requires evidence Mr Coulter will represent To Aroha.
