OBITUARY.
MR CHARLES A. STOPFORD. (Special to Times.) MATAMATA, Saturday. The death occurred at the Waikato Hospital this morning of Mr Charles Alexander Stop lord, of Te Poi, at the age of 72. Mr Stopford, who came to New Zealand 34 years ago, was born in Northamptonshire, the son of a clergyman. He settled in Te Poi about 20 years ago, where lie became a leading figure in dairy farming circles. He was for some time’ a member of the board of the Sunny Park Dairy Company and also a member of tlie Matamata County Council, lie was so well-known and respected in the neighbourhood that lie was affectionately referred to as the "Father of Te Pol.” He Is survived by his wife, Mrs Elizabeth Stopford, and a stepdaughter. Mrs A. G. Farland. of Palmerston North.
MR H. C. CHOYCE. VETERAN BUSINESS MAN. (Special to Times). AUCKLAND, Saturday. Founder and for many year* managing director of Milne and Choice, Ltd., Mr Henry Charles Choyce, a pioneer Auckland business man. died at his home in Rcinucra yesterday, aged 97. The late Mr Choyce was born In Leicestershire and came to New Zealand in 1866. After a period at bushfelling and prospecting on tlie Thames gold field he obtained employment in an Auckland warehouse and later entered into partnership with Ills sister-in-law. He was the oldest bowler in New Zealand taking part la tournaments and club games. He retired from active business 16 years ago but remained a director. Mr Choyce is survived by a son, Mr 11. V. Choyce, .i director of Milne and Choyce, Limited, and a daughter, Mrs Wyvcrn Wilson. His eldest son. Professor C. C. Choyce, professor of surgery at London University, died la England last April.
