AWARD FOR SHOPMEN. BETTER PAY AND CONDITIONS. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY. August 18. Following last week’s announcement of the decision by the railway ■staff national tribunal, by which 500,000 railway workers were awardee a wage increase estimated to cos about £2,900,000 a year, an award ha« been made on the claim of the railway shopmen. The basic rates are to be increasec by Is a week and Gd a week for different grades, and annual leave with pa; will he given to all employees in railway workshops after 12 months’ continuous service, commencing in 1938.
