ANNUAL BALL.

NEW ZEALAND DAIRY COMPANY. AX UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS. An intricately twisted -canopy of streamers in light blue and gold, and feathery masses of lycopodium had transformed the Regent Ballroom most attractively last evening, beautiful bowls of colourful spring flowers adding still further to the charm of the effective decorative scheme. Successor to many highly successful balls, last evening's function, the annual ball of the Executive and Staff of t lie New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company Limited was no exception, the evening being marked by a particularly gay and happy spirit, and the ballroom being thronged with dancers. A large cluster of lycopodium marked the centre of the overhead canopy, and blue and gold streamers cascaded qver the lampshades. Lycopodium and streamers encircled the many pil-

lars about 11 ■ s hall, and lycopodium rioted lavishly over the walls and supper balcony. Colourful rhododendrons banked the underneath of the front of the stage, which was gaily outlined with blue and gold lights, lycopodium and blue and gold streamers being again used to mask the trellis work and archways on either side of the stage, and lycopodium transforming the outlines of the stage. Artistically arranged bowls of very beautiful pale and rosy pink camellias and japonica were placed across Hie front of the dais, and bowls of golden jonquils, daffodils and Iceland poppies placed here and there

about the hall and on brackets about the walls lent a harmonious note of spring to the decorative scheme. On the supper balcony, where a delicious supper was served during the evening, the tables were gay with spring daffodils. Iceland poppies, jasmine, pussy willow and greenery, and bright streamers overhead added a festive note. .Music played by Mick Cosgrove’s Melody Makers from Thames added greatly to the brightness and pleasure of the evening, and novelty dances were much appreciated. Warm praise is due to the energetlo committee, whose excellent arrangements had early assured the success and enjoyment of the eveningThe hostesses were: — Mrs C. J. Parlane wearing save blue Viennese lace and grey fur fabric coat. Mrs W. Y. Ivirkman, a model frock of black georgette and lace, and black silk velvet coat. In the unavoidable absence of Mrs G. W. G.
