PUKEMIRO NOTES.
HAPPY SOCIAL EVENINGS. A very enjoyable evening was spent In the Pukemiro Miners’ Hall recently, the occasion being a social evening held by the Anglican Ladies’ Guild. Tho evening passed happily with songs, competitions and games, and songs were given by Mrs Fairhurst, Airs A. Robinson and Miss J. Wilcox: also by little Betty Whyte, Joan Simpson and Doreen Hillier. Songs were also given by Mr R. Robinson, Air Ken Robinson and Air W. Dunn, who also gave mouth-organ selections. All tho items were very much appreciated. Competitions were won by ATrs T Seddon, Arcs W. Simms, Airs A. Ilodge and Doreen Hillier. FOR CHURCH FUNDS. Another very pleasant evening was field at Airs J. Dunn’s home in aid of Ihe Pukemiro Catholic Church funds, a large number being present. Tho winners at the card tables were Mrs McLaughlin and Air A. Chappell, consolation prizes going to Airs W. Thomas and Air R. Robinson. WHIST DRIVE. The weekly whist drive was held in the Aliners’ Ilall, the proceeds being in aid of school funds. The winners at the whist tables were Airs Barr and Air A. Chappell.
