THIRD ANNUAL DANCE.
ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. STAFF SOCIAL CLUB. An unusual motif In decoraMon had been carried out in the Regent Ballroom last evening on the occasion of ! the third annual staff dance of the I Central Waikato Electric Power Board i staff social club, which was largely i attended and a most successful func- ! tion. A particularly gay and happy i spirit prevailed from the outset and i the evening was warmly enjoyed by I the many present, and a memorable Effective use of electric lighting had been made in the decorative scheme, festoons of lights in red. white and blue twinkling round the entire hall, and red and blue lights with a gay Japanese lantern in the centre outlining the stage. A square illuminated plate above the stage bore an appropriate message of welcome, and streamers in green and gold, the Power Board colours, and ' balloons hung gaily on either side of the ballroom in front of the stage. Lovely punga fronds covered the pillars about the hall and were arranged over the archways on either side of the stage which was flanked with nikau fronds, and banked along the front with boughs of laurel leaves and other greenery. Laurel leaves and greenery also transformed the trellis work about the stage, and vivid ! clusters of balloons hung about the hall. The dominating note of the decorations, however, was a large silver lighthouse in the centre of the floor with continually flashing coloured beam, and two smaller models one on each side of the stage, which were original and highly effective. ; The supper balcony was gay with colourful Japanese lanterns and streamers overhead, and the tables looked bright and most attractive with green and gold streamers and beautiful bowls of golden massed mimosa blossom. During the evening a delicious supper was served. Excellent music was played by Clayton’s Dance Band and novelty dances added further to the enjoyment and amusement of the function.
