WAITOA NOTES.

“ TIN CAN” PARTY. A "tin can” party of about 40 residents and friends paid a surprise visit to.the home of Mr and Mrs A. Weston recently for the purpose of welcoming them home from their honeymoon after their recent marriage. A very happy evening was spent by all present, congratulations being extended to tlie guests of the evening. The evening was passed in songs, games, competitions, and surprise items by j the company, concluding with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne ” CARD EVENING AND DANCE. The last of a series of card and dance evenings held under the auspices of the Waitoa Anglican Church 1 Ladies' Committee In the local hall recently was a great success, visitors attending from all the surrounding districts. Music was played by Mr J. Knyvett (piano), Mr 11. Suckling (accordion) and Mrs Jean Ryan (piano-accordion). The successful players in the progressive 500 tournament held in conjunction with the dance were Mrs A. Holland and Mr W. Goodison. A hidden number prize was, won by Mr W. Luxton. Novelty dances were won hy Mr D. Curtin and Miss M. Curtin, Mr A. Steer and Miss J. Ryan. During the supper interval Mr J. Marsden took tiie opportunity of thanking everyone who had contributed to the success of these very pleasant and enjoyable functions, which tiad been held in aid of the Church funds. Tiie Ladies’ Church Committee also extended their thanks for the patronage afforded them in their efforts. Mr J. H. Marsden had charge of the dance floor, while Mr G. Forbes controlled the card room.
