INTEREST IN FLYING
ACTIVITIES IN RUKUHIA. RUNNYMEDE CUP RESULT. Tho landing competition for the Runnymede Cup was conducted at the Waikato airport at Rukuhia yesterday and was won by Miss M. Patterson, of Auckland. The competition was open only to pilots trained by Flight-Lieu-tenant W. H. Lett, at Rukuhia, and 14 entries were received. Tills year the event was made a handicap one for pilots with “ A ” licences only and Mr. A. F. B. Broadhurst was the' Judge. Results were.—Miss M. Patterson (Auckland), t; R. N. Brown Hamilton'. 2; T. Massey (Tamvhare'. 3. The cup was presented to tin- winner by Mr. J. A. Steele, who donated the trophy to the Waikato branch of the Auckland Aero Club. The interest in aviation in the district was shown by fhe large crowd at the aerodrome and again yesterday, as on all previous fine week-ends, the Puss Moth cabin machine was kept busy until dark on passenger flights, while the two biplanes were constantly In use.
