“ RIO RITA.”
HAMILTON OPERATIO 80CIETY. GLADYS MONORIEFF’S INTEREST. Gladys Moncrieff, before leaving •New Zealand this week for Sydney, en route to Brisbane, sent a farewell message expressing gratification at the great success of the tour, and stating that she hopes to return some day. She asked me to pass on the following message to the Hamilton Operatic Society:— “ Good luck to you in your production of 4 Rio Rita.' It is a fine show, and Rita was one of my happiest parts. I shall hope to hear of your complete success.” Enthusiasm of Members. I looked in at a rehearsal of “ Rio Rita ” this week, and was pleased to see the enthusiasm with which the members are entering into the work. The producer, Mr. Walter George, has taken over the full company, and principals, chorus and ballet are showing great keenness. What a thrilling thing the Rangers’ Chorus is—in fact, all the music of “ Rio Rita ” is very melodious. The finale is stirring. | 1 I
