PARANA PARK.
CHILDREN’B PADDLING POOL. NEED FOR ALTERATIONS. Several complaints have been perceived by the Hamilton Beautifying Society regarding children slipping into the paddling pool at Parana Park, according to the remarks of the chairman. Mr W. H. Paul, at the meeting of the society last evening. Mr Paul said he considered that the sides of the pool were too steep, and he suggested that steps should be constructed at either end and that a railing should be erected around the sides. The matter was left in the chairman’s hands. In answering a question from the chairman regarding the removal of the fences around Memorial Park. Mr H. M. Hammond said that shortage of steel supplies was •still retarding the repair work on the Irafflo bridge, and until It was closed and the stock route closed the fences would have* to remain in place. The chairman stated that label* were being made for the trees at Memorial Park. Two plot* of land immediately across the railway line on the Whatawhata road at Frankton have been acquired by the society, and shrubs were planted yesterday to beautify them. The resignation of the secretary, Mr G. Moore, was received with regret, and he was thanked for his past service*. The society appointed Mr T. A. Ewan honorary secretary. Members present at the meeting were Messrs W. H. Paul. \V. G. Pountnev, R. Parr. G. Morpeth, E. Quick, H. Mercer. JL M. Hammond, T. G. Reynold*, and Dr. H. E. Harris. Apologies were received from Dr. H. Douglas and Mr J. F. Strang.
