SPEARED TO DEATH.

FATE OF A MURDERER. LONG POLICE CHASE ENDS. AUSTRALIAN TRIBAL CUSTOM. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tdt. Copyright (Received August 3, 11.25 a.m.) DARWIN, August 3. Pursued by police for nearly twelve months and outlawed by his tribe for five tribal killings, “ Smlle'r,” who was known as “ The Lone Wolf of Arnhelm Land,” has been killed in the Liverpool River district. It appears that with the police on his heels Smiler was driven back towards his own country, where he' was speared to death. It Is unlikely that any further action will be taken by the police, as Smiler s death was caused by practically uncivilised natives in accordance with their tribal custom.
