PLAY AT TE AROHA.

WAIHOU WIN CHAMPIONSHIP. (Special to Times.) , TE AROHA, Monday. Playing In the Te Aroha senior championship competition on Saturday YVaihou defeated City by 14 points to 9. YValhou kicked oft and quickly Invaded City’s territory, and from a long kick Ohe latter accepted a force. Miller, Riddle and Douglas brought the play back to the centre, where McOlashan broke through and was stopped by Jackson. Mortimer stopped a strong YValhou forward rally and Williams relieved further pressure by kicking the ball out. Burgess, Martelll and Borrle registered a strong passing movement and Martelll got round again quickly to cross the line. Burgess failed with his kick at goal. YY’alhou 3, City 0. City forwards swept down the held again, until Haddon relieved with a well placed line kick. The City vanguard again rallied and took the play down to the front of the goal posts. A penalty award to City was followed by Maddren sending the ball over. YY’aihou 3, City 3. A strong City forward attack resulted In Robertson scoring at the corner. Waihou 3, City fi. Jackson, Martelll and Mortimer put in a brilliant passing run, the latter being effectively stopped by Johnson. Strong pressure by YValhou was relieved by Slsterton and Beagley breaking through the vanguard and a good breakaway by Riddell Improved City’s position. A lively melee ended In a penalty award to City, but Maddren’s kick fell short. From a scrum Rae got the ball out to Jackson, on to Robertson wiho crossed the line. Walhou 3, City 0. The second spell opened with Walhou attacking strongly, but by clever passing City took the play right up to the visitors’ line. McGl&shan broke away with a brilliant run to City’s twenty-five, but was brought down and Rae relieved with a long kick- Y'lgorous bouts took the play up and down the field, until a spirited YValhou attack resulted In Johns saving. YY’alhou 6, City 9. From a mark Rae round tihe line and a strong City rally moved the play to YValhou’s twenty-flvQ. A determined dash by YValhou followed and Burgess scored and converted. YVaihou 11, City 9. Maddren went down to a heavy Walhou forward rush, and pressure was relieved by Jackson and Mortimer. A Tree kick to YValhou resulted in Burgess sending the ball over the bar.' Walhou 14, city 9. No rurther score resulted, YValhou being the winners ot' the senior championship. Mr YV. Jonas was the referee.
