CAMBRIDGE, Sunday. 1 The effect of the broadcasting of the Springboks’ games was seen here yes- j terday, when there was a small at- ' tendance to witness Tauplrl play Stars « in the Slag competition, the visitors « winning by 8 points to 3. The play was 1 of the ordinary order, the losers being very weak. Tauplrl were not at 1 full strength. The third final between Northern and Hautapu was an excellent game for the grade, ending in a 0-point draw. Tauplrl had the best of the opening playing Stars, hooking the ball from the first, scrum. Tapp, Robertson, O’Hearn am: Barrakat handling well to the twenty-five. The Stars’ forwards—'Cooper. Watt nnd Farmer —took- play close up. A scrum went down and Taupiri cleared. Robertson and O’Hearn handled from a scrum and took play to Stars twentyfive. Hardy, Kelly and Boyce handled well. Boyce kicking through tout the j bounce beat Puke and he was caught 1 in possession. Barrakat received down j the line and. swerving past, two Stars : players, sent Kereopa over for a good j try. Tapp converted. Taupiri, 5, j Stars, 0. Soon after play was at half-way.: O’lHearn receiving. He cut. through fast and sent to Martenga. who threw | to Kereopa. He went over for his sec-j nnd good trv, the kick missed. Halftime score was Taupiri 8. Stars. 0. Following a force down Hardy secured and ran down. L. Kelly and Pennell coming in lo handle, the last-j named being pushed out, at the ■corner, j Stars were hotly attacking tn front of Tnupiri’s goal and Kite was well off-side. J. with the klok. Taupiri, 8; Stars, 3. There was no further score. Mr. G. F. Hill was referee. THIRD-GRADE FINAL. The ourtaln-ralser to the big game at Cambridge on Saturday, was the final of the third grade competition between Hautapu and Northern. The teams were very evenly matched and play was very hard and willing. The soorer for Hautapu was F. Jones and D. MoGovern kicked a goal. For Northern K. Shaw and Masters soored. The referee was Mr. G. Wallaoe. Fourth Grade. —United, 3; Northern, 0.
