BOY SCOUT CENSUS. INCREASED MEMBERSHIP, (Times Air Mail Sendee.) LONDON, July 6. The Boy Scout world census figures for 1937, compiled by the Boy Scouts’ International Bureau, reveal an increase in two years of 340,060. with a total of 2,812,074 (says the News Chronicle). This is the largest increase In membership the movement has ever known. The News Chronicle was informed yesterday that there are constant increases in the world’s total Scout membership. “We can only say that the movement is Just growing all the time,’’ said an official at the Scouts’ Headquarters. "The activities as a whole are increasing. America Leads. The present increases in ranks and sections are; Scouters or scout* masters, 87,415; Rover Scouts, 13,* 114; Scouts, 133.752; Sea Scouts, 1344; and Wolf Cubs. 104,344. “America, which had the largest increase, now has the most Scouts. The Increase there is 133,969. and the total membership Is 1,107.558, compared with an increase in the British Empire of 86,869 and a total membership in the Empire of 1,011,936. “ Cuba has trebled Its membership, and there are now Scouts in 49 countries.’’
