SOCIAL AND DANCE.
PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY. A very bright social and dance was held recently in George Kingston’s Studio when members of the Hamilton Philharmonic 'Society and their friends were the guests of the secretary, Miss Jessie Gardner. A very pleasant time was spent by all, and dancing was much enjoyed. Items, which were much appreciated, were given by the following:—Mr E. McLellan, vocal solos; tap duo, Mr Geo. Kingston and Miss Florence Redwood; elocutionary selection, Mr G. Owen Jones. Miss Gardner received the guests wearing a charming frock of tea-rose lace with natural flowers. Mr Eric McLellan was M.C., and Miss Myra Salter was accompanist. Presentation to Conductor. Opportunity was taken to make a presentation lo the Society's conductor, Mr 11. Stanley James. In presenting Mr James with a wallet from the members, Mr F. Findlay, vicepresident. paid tribute to Mr James’ powers as a conductor. The Society had a sound musician at ils head, and its reputation in the town was a very high one. Mr Janies suitably replied.
