WEDDINGS.

LANGTON —SWEENEY. The marriage was solemnised at the Basilica, Wellington, on the morning of July 15, between Mary Ellen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Sweeney, of Wellington, and Timothy Michael, second son of Mr and Mrs P R. Langlon, of Tangowahine. The ceremony was * performed by Monsignor Connelly, who also celebrated Nuptial Mass. The church had been very beautifully arranged by friends of the bride with Iceland poppies. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory satin crepe cut on classical lines with Peter Pan collar finished with ruched velvet, and ruched velvet at the hemline. A narrow velvet belt encircled the waistline, and the close-fitting sleeves finished in a point over the hand. She wore a beautiful veil of hand-embroidered net falling from a halo of silver tissue and pleated net, and carried a bouquet of arum lilies.

Mrs R. Turnwald, of Hamilton, was matron-of-honour, and Miss Eileen Sweeney, of Hamilton (sister of the bride), was bridesmaid. They wore frocks of Marlborough blue Corona crepe and lace to tone, with Peter Pan collars, long full sleeves and belt caught with gold buckles, and halo hats of the same shade in lace, finished with pastcl-toned flowers. They carried muffs finished with sprays of begonias and hothouse flowers. Mr Thomas Langton, of Tangowahine (brother of the bridegroom), was best man, and Mr Bernard O’Dea was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Uvelburn Kiosk, which looked most attractive with bowls of Iceland poppies. Mrs Sweeney received the guests wearing a black pinstriped serge costume, black peachbloom hat and fur stole, and carried a posy of violets, freezias and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom’s mother was wearing an ensemble of autumn brown silk crepe with hat to tone, and carried a posy of violets, freezias and maidenhair fern.
