NEW ZEALAND INDUSTRIES. MANUFACTURERS’ -CLAIMS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. The view that Otago and New Zealand must look to the manufacturing industries for future development was expressed by Mr. TI. L. Longbottom. representing the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association, at the annual meeting of the Otago Expansion League. He emphasised the need for Government intervention to protect local manufacturers from Imports pouring into the country. Mr. J. W. Munro, M.P., assured the manufacturers that the Government was fully alive to the menace from Australia which Is enabled to take advantage of parity In exchange. The Government was giving serious consideration to that question.
