EXPERT’S OPINION.
“LOVE AFFECTS DRESS A STYLE.” “A woman is luckier than she imagines when Dan Cupid shoots an arrow into her heart,” says Robert Kalloch, head fash : on designer for Columbia studios, ‘‘for in an effort to please her perfect man she studies herself more carefully than ever before.” 'This strange alchemy that love inspires has been dramatised in Columbia's ‘‘Women of Glamour,” in which Virginia Bruce and Melvyn Douglas play the leading roles. Kal-lo-ch continues:
"As the picture opens. Miss Bruce is the daring sophisticate of the stage who dresses with flash and lure to •attract any audience. But when she meets the man, she quickly discards the gaudy fripperies that have previously made her conspicuous, and she no longer seeks the interest of many men that she may claim one to have and to hold. Her thousand curls are combed Into one soft roll, her mask of make-up is removed to reveal the lovable, human being that she really is, her blood-red nail polish fades Into light rose. "The same changes occur in Miss Bruce's wardrobe as 6he portrays the role of the actress who falls in love. The cold, hard personality of the adventuress is definitely portrayed in an evening gown of ice blue shimmering satin with moulded lines, revealing back and an ornate Jacket with snowflake design of sequins. When she falls in love she casts aside this gown In favour of diaphanous chiffon that subtly conceals the figure in its soft draperies. u Daytime clothes assume a mannish, tailored air and have a tone of smart severity for the woman in love realises that the feminine* frills do not belong to the street, but are a distinct part of the charm of home life. "The metamorphasis that is wrought by love influences every phase of a woman’s life. Love offers a woman her greatest expression." Featured in support of Miss Bruce and Douglas in "Women of Glamour" are Reginald Denny, Leona Maricle, Thurston Hall and Pert Kelton.
