REMOVAL OF PRIMATE. HIS APPOINTEES SUSPENDED. ACTION TAKEN BY ARCHBISHOP. United Press Assn.-—Elec. Tel. CODYI'IE’IIL ROUEN, May 26. Consequent on the removal or Monsignor V'illersbel, the Archbishop of uambrai has suspended Monsignor \'ilierabei‘s appointees, the Mother Superior of the Euphraise Convent at Ernemont, and two of her feminine subordinates, also the supervisor, Canon Cahsrd. A sensation was caused in Roman Catholic circles throughout France owing to the Pope removing the septuagenarian Monsignor Villerabel, Primate of Normandy. from the Arch—bishopric of Rouen. This was the cli—max to a long controversy in which Monsignor Villerabel took action for the alleged misappropriation of funds against his vicar—general. Monsignor Bertin, in the Cixil Court instead of in the Ecclesiastical Court. thus infringing canon law. The Diocesan Courts had already convicted Monsignor Bertin, but the Vatican quashed the con—viction. Thereupon the Ministry'of the interior intervened and reopened the case. The Pope appointed the Archbishon of Cambrai to administer the archdiocese.
