VALEDICTORY.
SOCIAL AT TE KOWHAI. The departure from the Te Kowhaii district oi‘ .\liss Flori-1e O‘Hara was the occasion of a very large and en-l jcyable social in the Te Kowhai Hall on Thursday evening. ' .\liSs O‘Hara has been for live years on the teaching staff of the local school, and the undoubted popularity and sincere esteem which she has gained from children, parents and the general public was evidenced by the very large attendance and the enthusiasm which marked the occasion. Music for the dancing was supplied by the Adelphi Orchestra. and Messrs Rennie Howard and Chris Perkins were M’S.C. The euchre resulted: Men, Mr J. Mace; ladies, Mrs N. Cotter. i Mr Edward Harris, on behalf of the School Committee and various other organisations, paid a warm tribute to the guest of the evening. In presenting Miss O’Hara with a handsome crystal toilet set, the speaker wished her all possible happiness in her future activities, and extended a Loordial and general invitation to her on behalf of her many friends should she wish at any time to revisit the district. Separate presentations were also made by the pupils—upper room of a handsome leather . suitcase and infant classes of a crocodile handbag. Musical honours 'were then accorded the guest of honour. Mr J. O‘Hara, oi‘ Papakura, in a very feeling speech, returned thanks on behalf of his daughter.
