PENSIONS PAID OUT.
DISTRIBUTION TO-DAY. ALTERATION IN DATE. State pensioners received their pensions a day earlier than usual when the distribution was carried out today instead of Saturday, May 23. It is explained that the reason for the change is due to the regular day (the 23rd of the month) for paying out old age, widows’, blind miners’ and war pensions, falling this month on a Saturday.
The action taken by the Minister of Pensions, the Hon. W. E. Parry, is brought into effect to eliminate tiie congestion which would take place If the distribution were made on a Saturday morning. In future if the normal pay-day falls on a Saturday it will be changed to the preceding Friday.
