THE WINTER SHOW.

RECORD OROWDB EXPECTED. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEATING. Details of the arrangements for the opening of the Waikato Winter Show on Tuesday were discussed at a meeting of the executive committee of the Show Association to-day, the president, Mr J. Ballard, presiding. It was stated that arrangements for the exhibition were well in hand, and a record influx of visitors was expected. Stewards had been appointed for the various sections, and the manifold details of organisation were at a forward stage. During discussion on the seating arrangements in the Bledisloe Hall of Agriculture, it was pointed out that last year many seats were occupied by children while older people had to stand. The opinion was expressed that steps should be taken to see that the adults had preference this year in the matter of seats, and that parents should see to it that their children were not occupying seats when older people were ■standing. ■ Mr Ballard suggested that show patrons should be asked to refrain from smoking during the opening ceremony. PRIME MINISTER’S VISIT. THE OFFICIAL OPENING. The fact that all arrangements for the opening of the Waikato Winter show were proceeding smoothly, and that indications pointed to a record exhibition was reported by the secretary, Mr W. H. Paul, at a meeting of the* executive committee of the Winter Show Association to-day. Mr Paul said the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. M. J. Savage, who will officially open the show on Tuesday afternoon, will arrive at Frankton on I lie Limited express on Tuesday morning. It was proposed that Mr Savage should accompany the Mayor, Mr J. R. Fow, on an inspection of Hamilton’s beauty spots, In the morning, and an official luncheon was being arranged at which Mr Savage would meet executive members of the Show Association. The ollicial opening ceremony at the show will commence at 2 p.m., and after this function the Prime Minister will be entertained at afternoon lea. It is understood that Mr Savage will also fulfil other engagements while in Hamilton.
