TE RAPA TRACKS. f

JOLLY BEGGAR SCHOOLED. RASOULI IMPRESSES. MORE VISITORS HERE.

(By ‘ Martian.’’)

It was an off morning at Te Rapa t<* day, although several visiting horses were sent along on the course proper on which the flags were well out from the rails. An interesting feature of the morning’s programme was the schooling trial over six hurdles by Jolly Beggar and Grand Score and the crosscountry exhibition of Rasouli, Royal Limond and London. With R. Beale up Jolly Beggar in company with Grand Score (J. Smith), gave a satisfactory exhibition although he screwed his first obstacle slightly. Grand Score rapped several of his fences and hit the fifth rather hard. Jolly Beggar ran to the front after they had cleared the fourth and finished fully a dozen lengths clear. Jolly Beggar, who is top-weight for the Te Kuiti Hurdles on Saturday, should make a bold showing. An impressive exhibition over a round of the steeplechase country was given by Rasouli (R. Beale), Royal Limond (D. O’Connor) and London (A. Gilmer). All gave a fast and clever display especially Rasouli who drew slightly to the front of the other pair in the latter stages and finished in front. A brush double was erected especially in front of the stands for the exhibition which was followed with interest by a large gallery. Rasouli is looking a picture of condition and should prove equal to a solid showing in the big event here on Saturday. Bonny Gay and High Tea were practically on terms at the completion of seven furlongs with Barograph half-a-length away in 1.38, the last six in 1.24 3-5. The only other to be sent against the clock was Glenavon who came home from the half-mile in 54s—a good effort. The arrivals to-day include, Sea Fox Dollar Bill and Donegal. Riding Engagements. Riding engagements are:— R. Glading: Full o’ Scotch, Greek Gold, Queen Nona. J. Leach; Donegal, Korero, Blackman. W. Rennie: Billy Boy, Modern Maid. R. Savage: Gold Mission, Gay Poto, Arawa Rose, Dark Shadow. J. Mcßae: Sporting Song. L. Dulieu: Imperial Prince, Mustang, Bantry, Silk Sox. J. Winder: Little Saint, Lion Heart, Gay i^ton. H. Cotter: Prince of Orange. H. Long: Air Commodore, Adalene. C. L. Goulsbro: Stormy Weather, Matoru.
