CRIME PUNISHED.
PRISONERS AT WELLINGTON. SEVERAL BURGLARY CASES. WELLINGTON, Monday. At the Supreme Court to-day the following prisoners were sentenced by Mr Justice Blair:— Rupert Austin, on three charges of breaking, entering and theft, twelve months’ imprisonment, to be concurrent; Samuel Allen, for theft from a dwelling, two years’ probation and ordered to pay costs of the prosecution, £35 4s 8d; Herbert Henry Ash, for breaking, entering and theft, three years’ probation; Thomas Barbour, for a breach of his probationary license, eighteen months’ imprisonment, the sentence being imposed on the original charge of theft.
William Murphy, found guilty last week of breaking and entering, with intent to commit theft was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal.
