The accounts of the Cable and Wireless Company show the highest receipts from messages since 1031, totalling £4,902,000, while station working and maintenance charges fell by £31,000. The net profits rose from £623,000 last year to £1,001,000. The dividend has been increased from two to 3£ per cent, and a special dividend is being paid out from reserves, which jumped by £717,000. The Cable and Wireless Holding Company shows lower dividends from its subsidiaries, but more has been earned from investments. The gross revenue increased by £39.000, and the net profit is also higher at £1.026,000. The dividend has been increased to 3J per cent, cumulative preference.
