TECHNICAL’S BIG WIN.

TAUPIRI WEST OUTPOINTED. PACKS WELL MATCHED. (Times Representative). NGARUAWAHIA, Monday. The technique of the Old Boys’ backs proved too good for Taupiri West when the two teams met at the Domain at Huntly on Saturday and the result was the big score of 38 points to 11. Territorially, however, the game was even and Taupiri attacked successfully several times. The two packs were well matched. The teams lined out as follows: — Technical Old Boys.—Liddy, Goosman, Porteous, Bulok, Stevens, St. George, Broad, Hennah, Carter, Rae, Bankier, Robinson, Clough, Harwood, Pardington, Peart, Harland, Taylor, Gibb, Haughey. Taupiri West. —G. Welsh, Williams, Carlsen, Morton, Wilson, Norris, Tye, Bull, Amokite, Engel, M. Welsh, Saunders, Muirhead, Fowler, Wautanga. In the early stages of the game the Technical backs kept the ball moving and nice handling by Broad and Stevens was finished off near the line by Porteous. Pardington made no mistake with the kick — Old Boys 5 Taupiri West 0 Almost immediately Goosman intercepted in about midfield and ran In for a good solo try. Pardington missed the kick — Old Boys 8 Taupiri 0 Liddy -cleverly staved off a blue attack but Taupiri came again and Stevens forced down In time. By nippy passing and hustling forward play Taupiri got into their opponents' territory, but the visitors carried play

to the other end for Welsh to save by finding touch. Liddy had some work to do, and finally, in his own twentyfive, St. George whipped the ball out to Goosman who ran through to score under the bar. Pardington put the kick over— Old Boys 13 Taupiri * 0 Bulck Soores. Towards the end of the spell Liddy ran up from Ills own ground, handed to St. George, who carried on and then passed to Bulck who scored. Pardington was successful in converting— Old Boys 18 Taupiri 0 Taupiri opened the second spell by a warm attack, and Wilson placed a fine penalty goal over from the side line— Old Boys 18 Taupiri 3 Mishandling by the Taupiri backs let Old Boys into their ■twenty-five, but Welsh found the line near half-way. Old Boys then promoted a good rush which ended in Buick’s scoring and Pardington's goaling— Old Boys 23 Taupiri 3 Bull, rushing the ball from midfield to the Technical line, figured in the next movement, but he was not supported and Liddy saved the situa-

tion. Taupiri kept play in Old Boys’ territory for a time and a penalty, taken by Wilson, resulted in the ball striking the goal post. Eventually Taupiri were rewarded, Morton scoring well in and Wilson goaling— Old Boys 23 Taupiri 8 The Old Boys’ backs got to work and Goosman ran in from half-way, Pardington doing the trick. The Technical backs obtained possession at mid-field, Broad finishing off the movement by a try under the bar. 'Clough converted— Old Boys 33 Taupiri 8 A dash by Taupiri into Technicar territory, and a penalty, enabled Wilson to add another three points for Taupiri— Old Boys 33 Taupiri 11 Near the end of the game Goosman dashed in again for Pardington to convert, making the final score— Technical Old Boys 38 Taupiri it Mr Nicholas was referee.
