WINTER MEETING HELD. HURDLES TO ROXY. CYLLAROS WINS TRIAL HANDICAP. WINDSOR LAD’S BIG STEEPLES. (Times Special Reporter.) TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance for the Winter meeting of the Waipa Racing Club at Te Awamutu to-day. The track following recent rain was on the holding side. Grand Score made the early pace and passing the stands was showing the way to Chief Lap, Modern Maid, Cordon, silver Wattle, Roxy, Sporting Song, Lucldus, Clan Ronald, Teddy Boy, Curlew, Spalplko and Summer Hill. At the fence going Into the back Chief Lap ran the obstacle down and lost considerable ground leaving Grand Score In charge rrom Cordon, Roxy, Modern Maid, Sliver Wattle, sporting Song, Clan Ronald and Lucldus. Cordon had run up to Grand Score crossing the top and coming Into the straight Roxy and Grand Score were abreast with Sporting Song handy in front or Cordon, Modern Maid, Clan Ronald. Lucldus and Teddy Boy. In a good finish Roxy did best to beat Sporting Song by a length with Lucldus four lengths away In front or Modern Maid, Clan Ronald, Cordon, Teddy Boy, Grand Score, Silver Wattle, Curlew, Spalplko, Chief Lap and Summer Hill. Glenatlon, Cyllaros and Stormy Weather were the first to become prominent, and when they had settled down, Glenatlon was leading, showing out across the top from Cyllaros. Stormy Weather. Little Ruse moved up smartly and was In charge at the turn from Glenatlon, Cyllaros, Stormy Weather, Ruavllle, Racela, Johnny Walls, Glenthawn, Tree or Heaven and Full o’ Scotch. Cyllaros came through In the straight and In a good finish, went on to beat Little Ruse by three-quarters or a length with Johnny Walls a length and a-hair further back. Windsor Lad, who had schooled impressively at Te Rapa on Tuesday morning, gave a polished exhibition of renclng, to win the principal event In decisive style. He was ridden by J. Muir, wbo was having his llrst ride since his suspension at the Rotorua meeting in February. Cromwell made the early running, and passing the stands the first time was showing out from London Adsum, Ardmanning, En Tour, King’s Archer, Windsor Lad, Emancipation and The Hiker with Dlacquedoon, who ran off at the second fence of the double, pulled up. At the end of a further circuit Cromwell was still In charge from London, Adsum, Windsor Lad, Ardmanning, King’s Archer, The Hiker and Irish Comet. Along the back, Windsor Lad had run up behind Cromwell and London and this trio was clear of King’s Archer, Adsum and Emancipation. Racing to the top, Windsor Lad had Joined Issue with Cromwell and Into the straight was eight lengths clear of Cromwell, with London a similar distance away and Adsum, King’s Archer, Emancipation and En Tour in that order. Windsor Lad was still In charge at the last fence and went on to win easily by six lengths from Cromwell, who beat Emancipation by a neck. London was fourth and then came En Tour, King’s Archer, The Hiker, Adsum. Ardmanning. with Irish Comet pulled up. Time, 5.8 4-5.
