ASSAULT CHARGE FAILS. FIGHTS IN NEW ZEALAND. William Henry Barnes, a carter, who, it was stated, had won numerous fights in New Zealand as an amateur boxer was the chief witness for the Crown at the Quarter Sessions at Sydney, at the trial of Antonio Rumore, 44, an Italian fruiterer, who was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. In his defence Rumore said tiiat Barnes attacked him. He did not bite Barnes, taking his eyebrow out, as was alleged liy the Crown.
