PROFESSIONAL CYCLING.
FIRBT RACE TO-DAY. SEVERAL LEADING RIDERS. Interest has been aroused in in cycling circles over the new professional club lately formed in Hamilton. The club, which is conducting its first road race to-day, has included in it a number of notable cyclist. Among these are: J. H. Harcourt, North Island champion in 1 , 929-1931; G. T. Crawford, runner-up in New Zealand Championship, winner of the 1935 Fastest Time Cup; A. G. Robinson, winner of the Hamilton Fifty-mile event, also of several victories from G. Patrick; Auckland ohampion, C. Henwood', a brilliant sprinter who has had marked success on the track; Mort .lones, prominent track cyclist and winner of several races at Te Aroha; A Sheat, Te Aroha champion, winner of the mile race at Otorohanga; K. Pilkington, prominent Te Aroha rider, winner of several wheel races, and C. Pittams, outstanding New Plymouth cyclist, who finished fourth in last years “Round the Mountain” event.
