TIMBER CARTER FINED.
EXCESSIVE OVERHANG. (Special to Times.) MORRINSVILLE, Friday. A warning to those engaged in the oartage of timber was -given by the traffic-inspector for the Piako-Hau-raki traffic group (Mr D. E. Morrow), in prosecuting G. L. Martin, Limited, of Putaruru, for operating a lorry at Waitakaruru on two charges, firstly, of exceeding the road classification, and seoondly for carrying a load of timber which extended backwards further than a point 9ft. 6in. behind the rear wheels. The charge relating to the overhang of the timber is the first brought by the Piako-Hauraki inspector, and is understood to be one of the first brought under this section of the Motor Regulations, 1933. The inspector said the lorry and load weighing 6 tons 2cwt. was on a Class IV road for which loads of 4$ tons were permitted. The overhang of the timber was 12ft., instead of not more than 9ft.. 6in. The defendant 'company was lined £2 for exceeding the road classification and 10s on the other charge. Costs 10s on each charge were allowed.
