HAMILTON MARKETS. ALL FISH PLENTIFUL. TOMATO QUOTATIONS DROP. Fruit. All lines of fruit are in good supply, with a moderate demand. The enquiry for tomatoes has decreased, witli a consequent drop in prices. Quotations: —Apples, Cox’s Orange 7s Gd to 8s 6d, Delicious 7s to Bs, Jonathans 5s to 6s, cookers 5s to 5s Gd; pears, L.B.J. 10s to 11s; B. Bose 8s to Ss 6d, cookers 5s 6d to 7s Gd; peaches, Golden Queen 4s 6d to 5s fid; tomatoes, first 4s to ss, second 3s to 4s; grapes, Te Kauwhata 7s to 8s fid; lemons, Is to Is 6d dozen; oranges, 40s to 48s; bananas, 32s to 40s. Vegetables.
All varieties are plentiful with K favourable demand, report the local vendors. Quotations: Cabbages, 4s to 5s sack; cauliflowers, 7s to 8s sack; lettuce, 4s to 4s 6d case; kumeras, lid to ljd l'b; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, Is dozen. Poultry. The largest yardings of poultry since Christmas came forward during the week, and as outside Buyers were operating prices remained on a par with previous sales. Pullets were in good supply, but the majority were backward. Quotations: 8.0. cockerels made 2s fid to 4s 2d, W.L. cockerels 2s to 2s 4d, 8.0. liens 2s 2d to 3s 4d, W. Rock liens 3s Id to 3s 9d, W.L. hens 2s 2d to 2s 4d, old hens Is 4d to Is lid, ducks, Is fid lo 3s Gd, 13.0. pullets Gs to 6s 3d, do. medium 5s 3d to 5s 9d, do. small 4s to ss, W.L. pullets 7s to 8s 7d, do. medium 5s Gd to 6s, do. small 3s 9d to 4s fid. Fish. The local dealers report that all varieties of fish are plentiful and meeting a good demand. Hapuka, kingIlsn, John Dory, Gurnard, schnapper, blue cod, rock cod and" buUerflsh are arriving in good condition and selling at late rates, Produce. The local merchants report that business has been steady tnroughout the week with a good demand on ail lines at late rales. Dairy Produce. Eggs are fairly scarce, and realise 2s per dozen wolesale, while butter remains Arm at Is 4d and Is 6d per lb for second and best grade respectively. HIDES AND SKINS SALES. A further decrease in the rates for hides, sheepskins and tallow was shown at the fortnightly auction conducted at the Auckland Chamber of Commerce yesterday.
