AT FRANKTON YARDS. OX BEEF IMPROVED. PIG QUOTATIONS EASIER. Ox beef quotations improved at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday, and prime cow beef was on a par, though light cow beef was easier than the previous week. Tlie Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:— At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards yesterday we had a heavy yarding of siicep and a short yarding of cattle. Prime steers and young cows sold readily at slightly better than last week's quotations. This was no doubt due to the short yarding. Light and medium cow beef was dull of .sale. Fat sheep met with keen competition and realised late rates. There extra heavy yarding of store sheep, including some extra good lines of young breeding ewes from Tologa Bay. These met with a fair demand, only the older sheep being sold. Late quotations were realised for store lambs. Fat pigs came forward in increased numbers, the whole yarding changing hands at values which were slightly below last week’s quotations. Baeoners averaged GJd to 7d per lb, while porkers averaged GAd per lb. Quotations: Fat bullocks, £l2 10s; light fat steers, £7 13s; prime fat cows and heifers, £lO to £lO 10s; fat cows, £8 7s Gd to £9 2s Gd; medium, £7 to £8 Is; vealers, £2 10s to £3 12s; store cows, £3 10s to £4 ss; dairy cows, £8 10s to £9 ss. Sheep: Fat wethers, 26s 9d to 27s 3d; fat lambs, 21s Gd to 23s Gd; fat ewes, 23s to 245; mixed sex lambs, 13s lOd; mixed sex lambs, small, 9s; four and six tooth breeding ewes, 22s 3d; four and five year breeding ewes, 18s to 20s. Pigs: Heavy baeoners, £4 6s to £4 12s; medium, £3 15s to £4 2s; light, £3 3s to £3 10s; heavy porkers, £2 18s to £3 ss; light, £2 5s to £2 10s; stores, 30s to £2; slips, 22s to 255; weaners, 10s to 18s; heavy choppers, £3 18s to £4 19s; lighter, £2 to £3.

Limited, report having held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards as under : —There was a small yarding of beef and prices for prime ox and cows were about 10s to 15s per head higher than last sale. Prime young cows sold at up to £9 10s; ordinary fat cows, £6 15s to £8; light and inferior, £4 10s to £6. Only a few r pens of store cattle yarded. We sold in-calf heifers at £7 10s; inferior do., £6 ss. There was an average yarding of fat sheep, which sold at late rates. Prime wethers, 27s fid; prime ewes, IGs Gd to 20s fid; two tooth Down cross, 25s 9d; inferior fat ewes, 13s to 15s; fat woolly lambs, 18s. There was a very large yarding of store sheep and lambs. The demand was weak and all classes were considerably lower than late rates. The following are our principal sales 280 two and four tooth ewes at 275; 120 four and live year ewes, 10s; 110 mixed aged owes, 18s Gd; 152 do., at ISs 3d; 110 full mouthed ewes, 15s; 151 four and five year ewes, lfis; Southdown rams, 3 guineas; English Leichester rams, 3 guineas; Romney rams, 2 guineas; aged rams, 1 guinea. There was an exceptionally heavy yarding of porkers and baeoners. Baeoners showed a good decline in prices, whilst porkers were also easier. Store pigs were much lower than last week’s rates. Best baeoners from £4 to £4 ss; medium, £3 2s to £2 17s; porkers, to £3 4s; large stores, £1 13s; medium, 23s fid to 30s; slips, 19s to £1 2s fid; weaners, 14s to 19s; small weaners, 6s to 9s; choppers, good quality, £4 to £4 16s; medium, £1 19s to £3 13s.

N.Z. Loan and Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report : —At Hamilton sale yesterday, beef was penned in shorter supply tlian usual. The steady values which have existed at recent sales for ox beef were fully maintained, while fat cows and heifers showed an advance of about J 5s per head over last week’s market, when a decided drop occurred. Fat sheep sold on a par with late quotations, but stores and breeding ewes met with rather a weak demand. A large entry of pigs came forward, and prices declined to the extent of 5s to 7s per head.
