SWIMMING.
MATAMATA CARNiVAL. The recently-formed Matamata District Swimming Club held its first club night at the Opal Baths, Okaiua. Everything was favourable, with the result that Hie club officials should feel pleased with Ihc result, of their first efforts. A great attraction was the demonstration of diving and swimming by Miss Lily Copplestone. The results were as follows: —50 yards handicap—First heat: H. C. Sutherland 1, J. Morrow 2. Second heat: \V. S. Crowther 1, W. F. Faulkner 2. Final: W. S. Crowther 1, H. C. Sutherland 2. Time, 32tsec. 66 2-3 yards handicap-—G. Sutherland i. H. Pailes 2. Time, 52sec. Dive — G. Sutherland-
