MAUNGATAUTARI.

Tennis. The tennis courts on Saturday afternoon were well patronised, as there was quite a large crowd present, and all the players joined in having a practice for the next match, which will be played against Monavaie shortly. The Weather. The weather lately has been lovely, with fine sunny days. There has been quite a spell from rain, although now a steady rain for a while would be good for the pastures and crops. The nights are beginning to get colder. personalMr and Mrs H. Osborne, of Te Awamutu, are the guests of Mr and Mrs La Trobe, of Horahora. Fanning. The cows are beginning to go down in milk, and the farmers are starting to cart out turnips and other crops for them. School Picnic. The Maungatautari No. 2 School held its annual picnic at Okoroire. A number of families also came from Maungatautari No. 1 district, and all present voted it a most enjoyable day. After lunch games and races were soon in full swing. At the end of the day each scholar was presented with a toy and book, the younger children each getting a present, besides the usual distribution of fruit, sweets and ice creams. Mr N. T. Higginson, of Okoroire, very kindly granted the use of his delightful grounds, and thanks were extended to him. A sumptuous luncheon and afternoon tea were provided by the ladies.
