REDUCING SALARIES.
ECONOMIES IN N.S.W. CIVIC SERVANTS’ PROTEST. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel.—Copyright. (Received March 22, 9.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 22. The State Ministers are convinced that tlm salaries of Cabinet Ministers, members of Parliament, and public servants must be reduced. The amount has not yet been determined, but it is believed it will be 10 percent. The Government will probably decide to revert to the 48-hour week in the public services, and also to the five and a-half days’ week for administrative staffs. The police, school teachers, and railway and tramway workers will all be Included in the scheme. The secretary of the Public Service Association announces that that organisation will oppose any reduction in salaries. The teachers’ Federation is similarly minded.
