KAYE AND PIPER.
DEPART FROM SINGAPORE. AN UNHERALDED ARRIVAL. THREE WEEKS ON AN ISLAND. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel.- —Copyright. (Received March 21, 9.10 a.m.) SINGAPORE, March 20. Because the airmen landed at the Royal Air Force ground adjoining the naval base, 18 miles irom Singapoic town, few were aware of the arrival on Wednesday evening, or the departure this morning for Munlok, of Piper and Kaye. The bad luck encountered in India continued after leaving Calcutta. When flying off the Burma coast, engine trouble forced a descent on the small uninhabited Island of Borongo, near Akyab, where they were delayed for three weeks working at repairs all day in the tropical sun and sleeping at nights in the machine, as there was no shelter. Despite their adversities they were most optimistic, though they were tired out when they arrived at Singapore.
