PERSONAL.
Mr R. T. Reid, Stipendiary Steward to the New Zealand Trotting Association, who had been attending the Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay meetings, returned to Hamilton to-day.
Mr \V. R. Beaver, who has been on a visit to Dunedin, where he represented St. Andrew’s congregation at the Presbyterian General Assembly, has returned home.
Mr Gutrv, headmaster of the. Roto-o-rangi school, has received notice his transfer to a higher grade school, at Onewhero, near Tuakau. Mr Redwood, of the Te Aroha district, will succeed Mr Gutry at Roto-o-rangi. Mr Gutry has proved himself a most able and succesfsul teacher, and his departure will be greatly regretted.
The following appointments were confirmed by the Auckland University College Council yesterday: Lecturer in civil engineering, Mr. G. B. Bell; law assistant, Mr. W. R. Tuck; library assistant, Miss J. M. Alison; part-time lecturer in education, Mr A. B. Thompson ; honorary research associate, Mr. S. J. Dale; student assistants, Mr. J. M. Bertram (English), Miss E. M. Ashcroft (botany). Mr. G. Malt (engineering) ; student demonstrators in physics department, Messrs. Schlup and Rudall. ’lt was reported by the Registrar that the Lissic Rathbone Entrance Scholarship had been awarded to .1. C. Graham, of GO, Esplanade Road, Mount Eden. On the recommendation of the director of Ihe School of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce scholarships were awarded to Miss N. E. Callis and Mr. F, D.
