BOROUGH WORKS.
TO THE EDITOII. Sill,—At the last meeting of tho Borough Council a rather extensive schedule of works was presented, and one or two points are worthy of attention. I notice gravel, gravel, gravel appearing in most of them. I think Cr, Tippin was quite riglit when he sat on the report If there had been, say, one or two more members present when the supervision of the works in the borough requiring the mu.-t immediate attention was made by the new Mayor, there might have been some few other works considered quite as necessary as piling on gravel. For instance, clearing the footpaths and sides of the roads and endowment stctions of the furze, dealing with absentee and defaulting ratepayers, &c., and the question of unclaimed lands and the squatters thereon. The last, I think, is very important, as providing a valuable estate and source of revenue in the near future —Yours truly, Ratepayer, Hamilton E ist, Janmlry 20th.
