ATHLETIC SPORTS.
TO THE EUITOR. Sir,—l see by your issue of the 17th inst, a statement signed by \V. \V. Higginsoti, Secretary Wliatawliata School Commito, as followsl am authorised by the Wliatawliata School Committeo to state that the athletic sports, to be held on January 25th, have no connection whatevor with the school children's annual picnic and sports," Now, Sir, in the first place, W. \V. Iligginsnn had no authority from the above school committee to insert such a statement; mid secondly, I was not aware that there ever existed any connection between the school committee and the athletic sports; so that whatever W. \V. Higginson hasdono for the school committee, lie has dono it on his own responsibility; and if he lias any greivance against our foot sports, it would look better if he wore his own cloak, and not the mantle of the Whatawliata School Committee,—Yours, etc., A, E.
