The whaler Helen Mar was crushed by icebergs in the Arctic Ocean and sank instantly, thirty-five lives being lost. Five men were rescued by a steamer after clinging to the musts for two days.
Jau.es Eustace Garwood, described as a timber merchant of Melbourne, was found dead on the railway at St. John's Wood station, on the Metropolitan .Railway.
