EUREKA SHEEP LICK.
Thb Eureka Sheep Lick, patented and prepared by Messrs Biyly and Sandes of
Hamilton, is another local industry, one we think should claim the attention of sheep owners in the district, and ie of sufficient importance to be given a fair trial by those who would principally benefit by its use. The ravages of internal parasites ihr-iugh'Hit tho colony are becoming so s;rioufl that any thing c-ileul itod to alleviate this scourge should bo hailed with satisfaction by the sheep owner. Placing a prevent, tive that stock will take themselves
within their reach at all times, and that saves all handling and drenching, seems a much needed want, and in the Eureka lick the desired object has been attuned. The par.isiteß being internal, when the effects of their presence become apparent the constitution is undermined and the system enfeebled, tho nutriment the animal should receive from the food consumed being absorbed by the parasitns instead of eoir.tf to the nourishing of their own frames Debility and other ailments are contracted which are attributed to a variety of causes bat the tUht one, resulting in lom of w.iol and weight of carcasea* well as a large morality in the flock. As a nils the sheep owner only proceeds to dose his sheep when lung-worm is in its advanced stages, by this time the constitution is impaired and although relief may be obtained, yet auch damage lias been done that the animal can never be the same, had prevention been adopted. The idea of producing in a consolidated and portable form a combination of parasiticides, tonics, and mendicaments which stock will take of their own acco d is, we btilieve, a new departure; its use appears both practical and of easy management and ia a step in the direction of a much needed want. Its motto should bo " prevention is better that cure."
