KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Kirikiriroa Road Board was held yesterday afternoon in the Waikato County Council Chambers. There were present : Messrs Primrose (chairman), Gillett, White, Coates and Mtclean. Fuxds, —The Clerk reported that the Board's account at date was £207 17s Id in cr 'dit. Rui'OßT.— Mr T, H. White reported that since last meeting he had not had time t>) inspect the works referred to him at the last meeting, and they were deferred to next meeting. . „., Bad Road.—Mr C. A. Davis, Silverdale, wrotß, calling attention to the fact that the road past his place was in a bid state, and wanted re-forming. This matter was held over until Mr Coatoa w.is present. Fakrkk's Culveiit.—The clerk reported that Mr Fairer had forwarded £2 as a contribution towar Is the culvert on the road leading to his property. Masgawhaba Road.—ln regard to the road referred to by Mr Walsh at last meeting Mr Maclean reported :— The new road, which if you refer to your minutes, I believe you will find Mr Gordon promised to make is quite impassable, most likely, however, Mr G ndon intends to finish this work. A small bridge built by him, will I fear go out «f sight if a heavy weight is taken over it. About CO chains of the Mangawhari road require claying, my estimate is 2s per yard, and 10 yards 11 the chain, U(i0; about 30 chains need clearing from ti-trae, a drain made sft by 3fc, and the material removed therefrom spread to form a road, estimated at 15s per chain. Total cost £82 10s. Further repairs are necessary if we could afford them, but what I have recommended will make the road passable. It was decided to call for tenders fur the claying, Mr Maclean to draw up the necessary specifications. Tueks ON Road.—The clerk reported that he had sent notice to Mr Hall, of R>torua, t>) remove the trees overgrowing tin Piako road and tho time would expire on the llth inst,—The clerk was instructed to take the necessary sUpa t>) have the branches removed on the expiration of the notice should such not be done previously.

Road Closing.—A letter was received from Mr L-jwis O'Neill, asking why the advertisement authorised at la-t meeting in connection with the closing of certain roads at Claudelands had not been inserted. —The Chairman said that he at the time was opposed to signing the advertisement and ho had taken an opinion from Messrs Hesketh and Richmond on the matter which strengthened his objection. This opinion was read, andhe then a-iked the B;>:ird to state whether he had a-:t;d rightly or not. This was decided againat him, whereupon Mr Primr me handed in his resignation and left the meeting, saying that was the only course open to him, us ho to determined he would not sign the advertisement. The Board then adjourned for ten minutes to endeavour to get Mr Primrose t>) reconsider his decision, but failing this the Board resumed, and on the motion of Mr Gillett, seconded by Mr Coates, Mr T. H, White was unanimously appointed chaii mao.—Mr Gillott then moved that the resolution carried at last meeting relative to the road closing at Claudelands be at once given effect to. —Seconded by Mr Maclean and carried.

Trmdeus. —The following tender: , , were opened and dealt with : —Forminp on Pilling's road, lGft Gin. wide : R. Waite, 5s !)d per chain (accepted). Clearing ti-tree »n Hukanui road : W. W. Lindsay. £11 (accepted). Niccul'ij road : A. Niccol, clearing, £1 ; forming same quarter of a chain wide, '.)i per chain ; filling in hole, £1 ss; and earthworks, O.Jjl per yard (accepted). Culverts. —Mr McLean applied for two culverts on the road leading to his property. Hβ had kept Lhe-n up for several years but thought the Board should undertake the replacing of them now. If the Board would supply the pipes lie could get them put in at £2 each.—lt was decided to leave the matter in Mr McLean's hands,
