The steamer Roumania, of 2207 tons, owned by the Anchor line (Henderson Brothers), bound from Liverpool (o Bombay has been totally wrecked at Arelho, north of Lisbon. One hundred and thirteen persons weie drowned. Of these fifty-five were passengers, including six British officers and their wives and many Indian officials. Seven ware saved. October ot). The liouraania was driven ashore in a heavy storm. There were only eight survivors, one of whom wis a white mail and the rest Lascars. Lisbon, October 31. Tho steamer lionmania lost her course in a fog and strmk the rocks broadside on about one thousand yards from the shore. Almost instantly a fearful sea swept the whole of her officers off the bridge and carried away the bouts. Tho scenc that followed was beyond description and the Lascars becoming panic stricken were of no u:e in the attempt to save life. As the passengers gained the deck seeking to vouch the bridge they were swept overboard, while others were drowned in their cabin. Most heart}' attempts wore made by husbands to save their wives but without avail. The shore was strewn with the bodies of women and children. The Portugese rendered every assistance to the survivors, who wore convoyed to Penichc in ox waggons.
