Sydney, October S, It is officially .announced that SoO men are at work in the Proprietary Mine at Broken Hill. 9300 ounces of silver lmvc been produced this week. Mr Bruce, of the Stock Department, who represents New South Wales at the Triennial Stock Conference, to be held in Wellington at the latter end of this month, has been instructed to report to the Government on the frozen meat and dairy industries in New Zealand. A strong syndicate of Sydney and Melbourne capitalists has been formed to utilise the waters of the rivers Colo and Grosso for transmitting electric power to Sydney. What appears to have beeu a deliberate attempt to destroy the Big Reef Company's property at Georgetown was made by inserting plugs of dynamite with detonators attached in firewood used for the boiler fires. Timely discovery prevented the boilers being burst and sacrifice of much life.
