Abrkst.—Detective Chrystal from Auckland arrtated a woman named Mrs Durnovich here on Friday, on warrant, charged with the larceny of gr.ods of the value of tl* from a dwellinK-houso in Auckland 8( ' lonths ago. It appears that she had bt ,\i\\pioyed at the house on various occ» ns, washing, etc., when it is supposed t . articles were appropriated, The house in which the accused was living (situated at the bottom of Beresfnrd-streer. Auckland), was burned down aomo six weeks or so ago ; her husband at the time being here engaged ut mining, when part of the stolen goods were ournt, the remainder having been traced to the pawnshops. She had been here but a short time, and on Saturday mnrnint? last was obliged to make a forced departure. Football.—The football match between Huutly and Whatawhata, played at Wbatawhata on Saturday, resulted in another victory for the maroons, who scored 12 to their opponents' 5, This gives Huntly a lead for the caps, as Hamilton was put dawn by Paterangi on Saturday, more power to them.
